Lion's Head

I'd love to see our borders open up, but the silver lining to the current travel restrictions was a winter getaway to Tobermory.

Instead of heading to the sunny south with most of the S. clan as previously planned, our own little fam made a shorter trek to the frosty (but also quite sunny :)) Bruce Peninsula. Sans restrictions, this vacation idea probably would not have occurred to heat-seekers like ourselves. However, we ended up loving it.

Once beyond Owen Sound, the road stretched straight and smooth and lonely. Trees were more stunted, and a steady flow of blowing snow washed continuously across the road behind and before us. But what struck me most was how beautifully pure and white the landscape was; whereas snow and ice around here tends to look dirty after a few days, this landscape was pristine as far as the eye could see.

We stopped in Lion's Head which happened to have recently been struck by an ice storm - making every least twig sparkle with glassy brightness.

I love the frozen "waves".

Also (side note) I love how faithfully Jim watches out for the little guy when we are out and about. <3

Tobermory is renowned for its beautiful teal-blue waters, but I hadn't realized this colour would also show up in the wildly-varietous ice formations along its shores. God's creative works are awesome.

Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:

…“Who shut in the sea with doors
when it burst out from the womb,
when I made clouds its garment
and thick darkness its swaddling band,
and prescribed limits for it
    and set bars and doors,
and said, ‘Thus far shall you come, and no farther,
and here shall your proud waves be stayed’?

“Have you entered into the springs of the sea,
or walked in the recesses of the deep?
...Have you entered the storehouses of the snow,
or have you seen the storehouses of the hail,
which I have reserved for the time of trouble,
for the day of battle and war?
What is the way to the place where the light is distributed,
or where the east wind is scattered upon the earth?

"From whose womb did the ice come forth,
and who has given birth to the frost of heaven?
The waters become hard like stone,
and the face of the deep is frozen."
(from Job 38)
