The Great Pumpkin

Seeing Auntie Christy's pumpkin patch pictures on facebook started a chorus of "we should go to a pumpkin patch!" and "why don't we ever go to a pumpkin patch?" followed at random intervals by wistful comments (as if to oneself) such as "when I grow up I want to live on a pumpkin patch..."

Apparently it was high time we paid our first ever visit to a pumpkin patch.

To add to our collection of Pioneer Day pumpkins, we were allowed to take home from the patch one pumpkin - any pumpkin! - compliments of Mink Realty group. It was quite a thrill to pick out the biggest, beautiful-est pumpkin there.  :)

Isn't it a beautiful sculpture by an awesome Creator?

It was a bit of a shame to mess with such a beauty, but the kids would have their cake and eat it, too. After duly admiring, photographing, and toting around this 40+ pounder, nothing would do but to carve it up, saving every last seed for roasting and any carved-out flesh for baking.
