Tucked away off the beaten path in NOTL is this remnant of the War of 1812.
The perk of visiting forts with boys is that there is always a battle reenactment enfolding before your eyes...

Another fine day we went to the a fire training station for a special event including food, demonstrations, and fire safety activities. Marike practiced getting out of bed to crawl through a "smoky" room to call 911.
They got to put out fires (real and fake) with fire hoses and extinquishers.
And we finished off that day with a historic trolley tour.
